Sheldrake Point Winery’s 2013 Late Harvest Riesling was awarded the USA Perpetual Trophy for “Best American Riesling.” Rieslings from all over the world were judged for trophies of excellence at this year’s Challenge; judges tasted 487 wines to find the best wines across a number of categories. This is Sheldrake Point Winery’s third such trophy from the Canberra Riesling Challenge.
“Sheldrake Point Winery has the site and the vineyard and winery teams with experience and craftsmanship capable of producing these world-class wines,” says Bob Madill, winegrower and partner. “We are very proud of our contribution to the growing reputation of the Finger Lakes for exceptional wines.”
Sheldrake Point 2013 Late Harvest Riesling possesses a rich amber color, with enticing aromas of apricot and marmalade, perfectly balanced on the finish with notes of violet and citrus.
Sheldrake Point Winery produces distinctive estate wines, crafted to take advantage of the flavor and character of the grapes grown on its 43-acre site overlooking Cayuga Lake. Sheldrake Point Winery has two tasting rooms: at the vineyard and winery on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, 7448 County Road 153, Ovid, N.Y; and along Seneca Lake at 5930 State Route 414, Hector, N.Y.
